This printable homemade Tic Tac Toe Valentine Card is perfect for trading at school or makes a fun party favor for your Valentine’s Day party! Get the kids involved making them as a great Valentine craft that they can give to their friends.
If you’re looking for a very special Valentine for your children to hand out at school or to make for a class party, I’ve got you covered! I first made these Tic Tac Toe Valentine Cards when my now 4th grader was in 1st grade. They were such a hit that my kids and their friends still talk about them, so I decided to make them again this year for my 2nd grader.
HOW TO MAKE Tic tac toe valentine cards
We found both the bags and hearts we used to make these Tic Tac Toe Valentine party favors at the dollar store. They are so simple to put together that you can easily get your kids involved as a fun Valentine craft that they can give to their friends.

Once you’ve downloaded the Valentine cards, you’ll need to print them on cardstock and cut them out. I used a paper cutter because it’s super fast, and it’s so easy that my son was able to help me out. If you don’t have a paper cutter you can always use scissors.
2. Add X’s and O’s to your hearts to make tic tac toe game pieces.
Let’s make the tic tac toe game pieces! The heart-shaped table scatter is some sort of acrylic, so I found an oil-based permanent pen was best for writing on them. I wrote X’s and drew hearts for the O’s on the hearts. You’ll need 5 of each letter for a total of 10 acrylic hearts for each Tic Tac Toe Valentine you make.
3. Personalize the Valentine’s cards.
Have your child write who the card is to, along with their name, on the back of the card.
4. Stuff the bags.
Add both the card and the 10 tic tac toe game pieces to each bag and cinch closed. If you’re looking for a great way to get your child involved, they can count out the pieces as well as put them into the bags.
We found our bags at the dollar store, but similar bags are also easy to find online. One of the nice things about the bags we found is that the heart on the front is large enough to add the name of the recipient with either a pen, or you could cut the name out in adhesive vinyl using a Cricut or Silhouette.
Valentine’s Day Cards for School or Party Favors
Aren’t these the cutest little homemade Valentine’s Day cards? You’ve basically got a game in a bag that you can use to keep the kids occupied while you’re at a restaurant, on a car trip, or waiting for an appointment.
And, they’re also perfect as a party favor for a Valentine’s Day party. I love when my kids get these kinds of party favors because they’re actually useful, and I’m not sneaking them into the trash can while my kids sleep at night hoping they’ve forgotten about them.
And, speaking of party favors, you could easily make these non-holiday specific by using round glass beads and generic drawstring gift bags, and a simple tic tac toe board.
We have a bunch more suggestions for you if you are looking for more creative Valentine’s Day ideas and gifts.
