Happy Spring! We got a few inches of snow yesterday, so it hasn’t been much of a spring for us yet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a little warmer weather later this week. It’s really been a mild winter, but I can’t even begin to tell you how ready I am for spring!
Last month we had two freezing cold nights that really messed things up for us around here. Like really, really freezing cold. We got down to -12 degrees F two nights in a row, which caused a pipe to burst in our basement. My husband was out of town, and the kids were out of school for the week for their winter break. (Am I the only one that thinks it’s strange to have a winter break in the middle of February?) I had no idea how to turn the water off, and because of the school break every neighbor I called was out of town. I was running around like a crazy person. My kids were frantic. Mass chaos! My husband finally got someone from his office to come over to turn it off for me, but as you can imagine there was quite a bit of damage that happened during all that time. Wow! What a mess!
Luckily, the majority of the damage was confined to a guest bedroom in the basement. The good news is that I have another room that has been moved up the list for a makeover. I’m working on picking out new colors for the room, and I thought I’d share some bedroom colors that I am loving. I’ve been saving quite a few ideas to a Pinterest board, so if you don’t already, you should check it out and follow me for even more ideas.
Blush
Pantone named Rose Quartz as their 2016 Color of the Year, and I completely agree! If you do a search for “bedroom colors” in Pinterest, a huge number of the pins show rooms with a blush or light pink color. It’s so versatile, because you can add it as an accent to colors you may already have in your home like gray, white , or navy. Use it sparingly or pair it with more masculine colors if you don’t want it to look too feminine. Here are a few of my favorites…
Navy or Indigo
If you’ve seen my master bedroom, then you know I’m a fan of navy. It’s very popular right now as a main color of the bedroom, but I’m also including some pictures of how it can be used as an accent color if you like the look, but are not ready to go that bold.

Coral
Coral makes me happy! It reminds me of warmer days laying out on a sunny beach. I would love to bring a little of that in my home. This welcoming color works great in just about any kind of bedroom…guest, master, children’s.
Yellow
Yellow is another color that makes me think of sunnier days. I really love it as an accent color to cheer up a room! There are so many different shades of yellow that you can easily find the right one to pair with any color.
Black & White
Ok, so I know black and white isn’t so much a color as it is a color scheme. You can definitely go for some drama and add some black walls to your bedroom, or by adding it to the bedding or curtains you can update a room without changing everything in it.
The great thing about these colors is that you don’t have to make a huge commitment with a full on makeover. Some new pillows, a throw, or fun decor accessories in a new color can completely change the look and feel of the room. What are some of your favorite bedroom color schemes right now?
