Hello again, and thanks so much for joining me on my 5th update for Calling It Home’s One Room Challenge! I can’t believe that this is my final week to get everything done and photographed so that I can reveal it to you next week! Whoa! My stomach just twisted in a huge knot as I typed that! I’ve had a lot of hiccups this week as I’ve started bringing in all the furniture and decor accessories into the room, and I’ve made a lot of changes to my plan!
You may remember my wall color horror story from last week. (Ok, maybe it wasn’t a horror story, but when you only have 6 weeks to makeover a room everything is a big deal.) Well, it’s continuing to give me grief. My design plan included painting the tops of my nightstands green, but I just couldn’t make myself love them when I saw them in the room. The wall color has a lot of blue in it, and the green night stands just didn’t look good against it. My options were to repaint the walls or the nightstands…I chose the nightstands. This time, I went with a glossy white and the base is now gold. I’m really happy with how they’ve turned out, but this means I’ve lost the “pop” of color I was originally trying to achieve.
This white cabinet was something I had in another room, but it’s the perfect size for this bedroom. It’s not very deep, which is great because there is very little room between the foot of the bed and the wall.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I’ve been doing a lot of ironing lately. Thankfully, I’m done, and the bedding is finally on the bed! And now that the green nightstands are no more, I’d like to find different throw pillows for the bed.
I can’t decide on this rug. It looks a lot darker in person than it did online, and I’m not sure what I think about it. What do you think?
Here’s where we stand going into the final week:
Paint Walls
Re-install and Paint Baseboards and Trim
Install New Ceiling Tiles
Replace Light Fixture
Change out all the Outlets and Switches to White
Replace Door Hardware
Repaint Night Stands
Find a Dresser (if I don’t repurpose something I already have)
The new door hardware will go on this weekend, so it really only leaves all the little decor details to be finished. We need to hang artwork, find throw pillows, figure out what to do with the rug, and accessorize!
Hopefully, we will have some nice sunny days next week so that I can get some great pictures to show it off. We’ve had non-stop rain and dreary days for the last week which really doesn’t photograph well in a basement bedroom. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
I hope you’ll come back next week to see how this all turns out! You can also sign up for my updates here and receive access to my new resource library. It has lots of great printables for all over your home including a recipe binder, pantry and spice labels, gift tags, and more. I’m working on new stuff for it all the time. Also, don’t forget to check out the other One Room Challenge Featured Designers and Guest Participants. See you next week!

Your nightstands are absolutely gorgeous. I think the rug looks good because you have some dark trim on your white bedding and a dark headboard. I like the rug because it has bright colors as well as dark. Your lampshades also have a dark geometric pattern on the white, which looks great with the bedding and the rug. I like the new color of the lamp bases. Can’t wait to see the grand finale! I’ve enjoyed exploring your blog and seeing more of your great design! (I’m still wondering where the pictures should really be after my husband hung three of them and the clock.)

Hi, Lucille! I’m starting to be won over by the rug (maybe because I can’t find anything else). I’m so happy to hear you like the direction it’s going in! Now, I’ve just got to finish pulling it all together! Thanks so much for stopping by and spending some time looking around!

I bet you did do a lot of ironing on that bedding but it looks fabulous. The rug is fun too but I always stare at the neat ceiling.
Happy Thoughts of Home. We are so glad you joined us. π
